Contemporary Art vs. Historical Art

Contemporary art is art that is being created today. We can view the art and ask the artist any question we desire. Historical art is art that was created in the past. And we have to sit and wonder about what the artist was thinking, feeling, seeing etc. I've noticed that a lot of contemporary art is edgy, bright and more modern and there are a lot more mediums being used now than in the past. My favourite contemporary artist is Banksy as his art reaches a large audience and each piece has a message behind it, usual controversial. Historical art usually has a more mellow tone to its colours and a lot of it is centred around religion or beliefs. I wouldn't say I have a favourite historical artist as I don't necessarily prefer older art. I'm not saying it isn't good, I just feel as though I don't relate to it as much.

Personally, I think creating art with your hands is such a more personal way to express yourself and it gives much more gratitude when you finish.
