What is art?

We were told to give our definition of art to start off our blogs, but honestly, I don't think art is something that can be defined. It's the artist's way of showing their thoughts, their feelings, their emotions and their ideas. There is no way to tell how the artist was feeling or what the artist was thinking just by looking at the creation. The way you define it is you putting your feeling into it. Artwork can hold so much energy and I think that is why it's considered art.

  2. ... I had a typo in the earlier comment, so I have corrected it below.

Taylor, you are really on to something here. Often as a student, I was told I couldn't draw, I couldn't paint, I couldn't ____, but that discourages people from creating and demonstrating feelings and emotions. Your "undefinition" is very encouraging. I look forward to exploring these ideas with you further.

  3. Taylor, I'm so interested in your concept of art and the energy that you mentioned. Many people don't understand the very essence of creation and the potential enjoyment (or participation) of someone who views the art. Well done!
